LATROBE, Pennsylvania - March 29, 2023 - Hiram played a competitive three sets in a loss to Saint Vincent on Wednesday evening at the Robert S. Carey Center: 23-25, 17-25, 20-25.

The Terriers held leads in each of the three sets, with Kyle Martini and Cullen Sivak each chipping in 12 kills. Jackson Deubner (4) and Garrett Scheidegger (3) were next in that category.

On the defensive end, Sivak and Martini again led the team with 12 and 10 digs, respectively. Connor Tilton had 9 digs to give him a team-high 143 digs for the 2023 season.

Hiram led by as many as 7 points in the first set (14-7) before Saint Vincent shifted the momentum and came back to tie the score at 19-19. The Bearcats would eventually score the last 4 points in the set to take a 1-0 advantage.

The Terriers started the second set with a 4-3 lead, with 3 different players recording a kill. Saint Vincent would again fight back and win the set thanks to the play of Shawn McSwiggen and Matthew Minkin, who finished with a game-high 14 and 13 kills.

It was a back-and-forth third set, with Hiram leading 7-5, Saint Vincent leading 16-9 and Hiram battling back to make it a 2-point deficit (18-16). The Terriers would save three match points in the set – two of which came on kills by Sivak – but a block by the Bearcats would end the match.

Hiram now has a 5-5 record in AMCC play, tied with Hilbert for fifth in the conference's overall standings. Those two teams will go head-to-head on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Hamburg, New York.
