Complete Effort Lifts Hiram To 11-2 Win Over Bethany

Terriers Snap Losing Streak With Big Performances From Pitching And Hitting

BETHANY, West Virginia - March 26, 2023 - Hiram had a complete effort on Sunday against Bethany, with Jack Conley striking out 10 hitters and the offense tallying 11 runs on 11 hits in an 11-2 win over the Bison.

Conley's 10 strikeouts made him the eighth pitcher in program history to record double-digit strikeouts in a single game. On the offensive end, 9 different players recorded at least 1 hit, including multi-hit performances from Connor Bansek and Mike Midea.

For the Terriers, the win snaps a 3-game losing streak and gives the team some momentum heading into a week that has 4 games scheduled, including the beginning of NCAC competition.

Hiram wasted no time getting an early lead, with 3 runs scoring on an error before Kobe Hunter ripped an RBI single to left field. Just two innings later, Michael Corsillo gave the team a 6-0 lead on a 2-run double.

Conley was dominant all day long, allowing 0 hits and just 1 baserunner over the first three innings. Bethany scratched across 2 runs in the fourth inning, but Conley would settle in again and finish with a final line of 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R/ER, 2 BB, 10 K. He joined Jacob Kocuba as the two Hiram pitchers with multiple victories this season.

The offense wouldn't let up in the later innings; Tanner Allison (single), Hal Walker Jr. (double) and Midea (single) all recorded RBI knocks to carve out a 10-2 Terriers advantage. Ben Yoder would then steal third base and score on an error to bring the final score to 11-2.

Hiram now has 4 games with 10+ runs this season, all of which have ended in victories. The team will have a quick turnaround and take on Capital on Monday at 4 p.m in Columbus, Ohio.
