PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania - March 18, 2023 - Hiram set a new program record with 25 goals as part of a 25-0 victory over La Roche on Saturday. It also marked the team's second shutout in program history, with the other coming earlier this month against Mount St. Joseph. The team had 96 ground balls in the win; only 3 Division III teams over the previous 10 seasons had more ground balls in a single game (Thiel 113, Hendrix 100, Benedictine 98).
The Terriers have now won three straight games for the first time since March last season; the program record for most consecutive wins is five (February/March 2019).
Ambrose Colliluori spearheaded the offense with 7 goals and 3 assists; the 10 points tied the Hiram single-game record. Hunter Jenkins had 10 points against Franciscan in 2017 and Tim Stucky had 10 points against Franciscan in 2019.
Colliluori is also the 4th player in program history to have 7+ goals in a single game. Stucky did it four times during his career, with Jenkins and Nick Rollason each doing it once. Stucky has the Hiram record for most goals in a game with 8.
Not too far behind Colliluori was Noah Pilgram, who finished with 4 goals and 5 assists, both of which were career-highs (4 goals tied a career-high). Brett Johnson finished the day with 14 ground balls, which tied the single-game program record set by Liam Pinney in 2019 vs Houghton (14).
Other multi-goal performances included Ethan Mayer (3), Johnson (3), Levi Willett (2), Trey Carter (2) and Trevor Flugum (2).
The Terriers struck right from the start, scoring 9 goals in the first quarter. The team had 3 goals in each 5-minute portion of the period.
Hiram kept it rolling for 4+ goals in each of the last three quarters, with goalkeeper Aidan Griffin and the defense also doing its part. Colliluori and Pilgram worked well together all game, with Pilgram assisting on 2 of Colliluori's goals and Colliluori assisting on a Pilgram goal.
The record-setting performance propels Hiram to a 4-4 record with 1 game remaining on the non-conference schedule. That matchup will take place on Wednesday, when the Terriers host Earlham College at 7 p.m. at Henry Field.
