ADRIAN, Michigan - December 18, 2023 - Hiram lost its final game of the 2023 calendar year on Monday, falling to Adrian, 79-58, inside the Merillat Center.
The Terriers held a lead just past the midway point in the first half before the Bulldogs found their form and pulled away.
Mitchell Wiechecki led Hiram with a career-high 13 points, while Trent Jakacki and Manuel Devora Violan each had 12 points. Ricky Esdel added 4 rebounds off the bench.
Adrian did a good job turning defense into offense, as it recorded 31 points off turnovers behind 13 steals in the game. DJ Morrow led all scorers with 21 points.
In addition to Wiechecki, another freshman, Galdan Batzorig, went a perfect 3-3 for 7 points off the bench. The first-year duo combined for 10 points in the second half.
Hiram will turn the page and look forward to 2024, when it will travel to Oberlin, Ohio to take on the Yeomen on Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. inside Philips Gymnasium.
