WOOSTER, Ohio - October 28, 2023 - A high-scoring NCAC affair fell in favor of Wooster on Saturday at John P. Papp Stadium, as the Hiram defense had three takeaways but the team lost, 47-14.
Gavin Cruser had an interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery, while Gregory Wilson Jr. recovered another fumble that was forced by Malakai Nation. Jalen Glass also added a sack in the strong defensive effort.
Offensively, Hiram was fueled by Sean Tejeda, who went 19-of-41 through the air for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns. Seniors Raequan Davis-Hereford and Trystan Mollohan hauled in each of the touchdowns, including a score in the final minute of the game.
Wooster found a groove early on, scoring 28 unanswered points within the first 17 minutes of game time. Cruser's fumble recovery would help shift the momentum, as it set up a four-play, 41-yard scoring drive that ended on Mollohan's first touchdown of the year.
The Fighting Scots offense kept the foot on the gas pedal by scoring another 19 straight points to give them their third game of the year with 40+ points. Davis-Hereford scored on a 27-yard connection with 27 seconds remaining to end the game on a positive note for the Terriers.
Hiram will celebrate Senior Day next Saturday, when it hosts Wabash at 12 p.m. at Henry Field in Hiram, Ohio.
