HIRAM, Ohio - October 24, 2023 - Hiram quarterback Sean Tejeda earned NCAC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning, as announced by the conference.
Tejeda is the first Terriers QB to land the honor since Randy Tucker in 2018; former Hiram running back Malcolm Rogers earned the award in October 2022.
It's been quite the run for Tejeda, who has thrown multiple touchdown passes and zero interceptions in consecutive games against Ohio Wesleyan and Oberlin. This past week against the Yeomen, he went 15-of-21 through the air – good for a season-best 71.4% completion percentage – for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tejeda also scrambled for his second career rushing touchdown, giving him a season-high 3 total touchdowns in the game.
Tejeda's production keyed a 27-19 victory over Oberlin at Henry Field, the team's first win of the season and another step forward as momentum continues to build throughout the second half of the schedule.
The San Antonio native has now thrown for 200+ passing yards in three straight games, the longest streak of his career. He also eclipsed 3,000 career passing yards with his performance on Saturday, making him the 10th quarterback in program history to achieve that feat.
Tejeda and the rest of the Hiram roster will have a great opportunity to keep things rolling on Saturday at Wooster. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. from John P. Papp Stadium in Wooster, Ohio.
