Box Score Sept. 4, 2022 -- The Hiram College Football team lost the season-opener at Bethany College on Saturday, Sept. 3, 26-16.  Hiram PK Chris Miller booted a 20-yard field goal with 9:20 remaining in the first quarter.  But the lead was short-lived as Bethany QB Marquice Robinson connected with De'Vaughn McWhorter for a 64-yard TD pass for a 6-3 lead.  Two more Bethany scores increased the Bison's halftime lead to 19-3.  The score reached 26-3 before Hiram scored a touchdown and recovered an onside kick to bring the Terriers within 10 points.  Hiram The stats tell a different story.  Hiram gained 374 yards on offense to 373 for Bethany, but 10 pemalties and five turnovers  -- including three interceptions -- proved too costly.  Hiram held a significant time of possession advantage of 33:04 to 26:56.  RB Malcolm Rogers rushed for 94 yards and two fourth quarter touchdowns to lead the running game and Raequan Davis-Herefo collected a game-high 159 reception yards. Rogers' pair of 2-yard runs capped drives of 86 yards in14 plays and 54 yards in 8 plays.  QB Xavier Reyero completed 16-of-31 passes for 136 yards with three INT's before leaving the game.  Back-up Sean Tejada connected on 8-of-10 passes for 112 yards.  Hiram picked up 22 first downs while Bethany managed 19  Hiram will open the home portion of the schedule this Saturday, Sept. 10, when it hosts Wooster in the NCAC opener.
