Hiram Men’s Lacrosse Drops Home Contest to Ohio Wesleyan

HIRAM, Ohio - April 20, 2022 Hiram College men's lacrosse fell to the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops, 27-2, on Wednesday evening at Charles A. Henry Field at Malmisur Stadium.
 
Luke Swaddling got the scoring started just over a minute into the opening period, finding the back of the net off Carson Geier's assist to give the Battling Bishops a 1-0 lead.
 
Jack Damon made it 2-0 a little over a minute and a half later, and OWU would score two more before Hiram answered with their first.
 
Down 4-0, Ambrose Colliluori scored his 27th goal of the year, cutting Ohio Wesleyan's lead to 4-1 with 9:43 left in the first.
 
The Battling Bishops though, would add four more scores in the opening period to take an 8-1 lead after one, and quickly added to their lead with Jared Friesen's goal 1:15 into the second period.
 
Another Friesen goal made it 10-1 in favor of the Battling Bishops with 12:28 to play in the first half, and OWU would add six more in the quarter to take a 16-1 lead at the half.
 
Cooper Braet kicked off the scoring in the second half for OWU, winning a face-off and scoring off Henry Little's assist to make it 17-1.
 
Ohio Wesleyan would go up 21-1 before the end of the third, and 24-1 to start the fourth before the Terriers got back on the scoreboard.
 
Following an OWU turnover, the Terriers cleared the ball and Noah Pilgram found the back of the net off Colliluori's assist, cutting the Battling Bishops' lead to 24-2 with 8:41 to play.
 
OWU though, would add three more goals before the final whistle to finish off the 27-2 victory.
 
Hiram falls to 4-7 (0-6 NCAC) with the loss, while Ohio Wesleyan moves to 8-4 (5-1 NCAC) with the win.
 
Offensively, Brett Johnson led Hiram with eight shots, while Colliluori and Pilgram each tallied goals.
 
Colliluori notched Hiram's lone assist, while Markus Johnson and William Luketich combined for 11 face-off wins.
 
Defensively, Gray Perry led Hiram with five ground balls, adding a caused turnover, tied for a team-high with Aaron Gardner.
 
In goal for Hiram, Bricen Jones made 12 first-half saves, while Jacob Hanrahan made five in the second half.
 
The Terriers next hit the road for the penultimate time this season, visiting Greencastle, Ind. for an NCAC conference matchup against the DePauw University Tigers on Saturday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.
