PITTSBURGH, Pa. – January 31, 2022 – Hiram men's basketball dropped a high-scoring affair at La Roche by a score of 107-90 Monday night.
The first half consisted of back-and-forth scoring all the way until the end.
Brodgie Gordon picked up where left off from last game getting things started early.
Gordon scored nine-straight points as the Terriers took a 16-13 lead with 13:45 left in the first half.
After a jumper from
Chance Wells gave Hiram a 28-24 lead, La Roche quickly fired back tying the game at 30 with just over seven minutes left in the half.
Down the stretch of the first half, each side was scoring in bunches. Gordon hit another three, tying the game at 43 with 2:32 left. La Roche answered back, with Desmond Ross sinking two free throws, with the Red Hawks up two with over a minute left at 47-43.
La Roche headed into the locker room up 49-46 as Wells put in a layup closing out the half.
The home team came out hot to start the second half and didn't look back. Isaiah Thomas made a layup, as the Red Hawks came out with a 57-49 lead under four minutes in.
"I thought we were flat today and it was probably in large part to playing our fourth game in seven days, said Head Coach
Taylor Roth. "We'll learn what we can and move on to what is a big weekend at DePauw and Wabash.
Ross hit another three, as La Roche's lead grew to 12 at 67-55 with 13:44 left in the game.
Kevin Beans Jr. made a layup, cutting the Red Hawks lead to six at 76-70 as the Terriers looked to fight back.
The La Roche lead held firm down the stretch, with the Red Hawks building a double digit lead.

Isiah Taborn free throws closed the scoring for Hiram, as La Roche won the game, 107-90.
Gordon posted 25 points along with four assists and three turnovers. Beans Jr. finished second on the team with 18 points and five assists.
Oliver Clingain put up a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
This is the second time this season that Hiram has eclipsed the 90-point mark, as the team scored 95 at Pitt-Bradford on Jan. 3
With the defeat, the Terriers are now 8-11 on the season.
Hiram next hits the court on Friday, Feb. 4 playing at DePauw starting at 8 p.m.
