CLEVELAND, Ohio – September, 7, 2021 – Hiram men's soccer fell to the Case Western Reserve Spartans, 5-0, on Tuesday in Cleveland.
Jacob Hall gave the Spartans an early 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of the match. CWRU then added on two more goals in the first half. Alex Lippiatt scored in the 18
th minute, followed by another Hall goal at the 22-minute mark.
Matt Vatne and Austin Zeleznik each added goals for the home side in the second half as Case Western would get the win.
Case Western had 38 shots on the night, with Hiram putting up one by
Joseph Suarez. 18 total Terriers saw the pitch tonight, including freshman
Hunter Reich, who made his collegiate debut.
Goalkeeper
Shelby Edwards made eight saves on the night. His counterpart, CWRU goalkeeper Jackson Kallen, didn't face a shot on goal.
Chris Miller appeared in goal for the first time this season for the Terriers. The sophomore played just over 13 minutes picking up one save.
With the loss the Terriers suffer their first defeat of the young season and fall to 1-1-1.
Hiram next plays at home against Thiel on Friday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m.
