HIRAM, Ohio – September 10, 2021 – Hiram men's soccer tied with Thiel Friday, 0-0, in a non-conference battle at Henry Field.
The Terriers had a shot advantage over the course of both the first and second half with ten in each half. Thiel ended regulation with eight shots.
Joseph Suarez and
Jason Martinez each posted five shots on the night. Suarez put three on goal with Martinez having two.
Despite the shot advantage, the matchup would head to overtime with both teams looking to score the golden goal.
Hiram put up five shots in the overtime period, with Thiel shooting four as neither team could capitalize.
Goalkeeper
Shelby Edwards recorded his first shutout on the year making five saves. Thiel goalkeeper, Devin Weisbarth, made 11 saves also recording a shutout.
With the result Hiram moves to 1-1-2 on the year having played two overtime contests both at home.
The Terriers next play Sunday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. vs. Defiance.
