STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – September 21, 2021 – Hiram men's soccer dropped a road contest at Franciscan, 3-1, on Tuesday concluding non-conference play.
Just 22 seconds into the match
Jason Martinez scored with an assist from
Aaron Muldrow assisting.
Jonathan Schriner scored his first goal of the night about ten minutes later. Just before the half, Schriner scored again doubling the home team's lead to 2-1 at the break.
At halftime the Terriers had seven shots to Franciscan's 11.
Sebastian Koehler bolstered the Barons lead with the third goal of the night in the 51
st minute.
Despite outshooting Franciscan 12-3 in the second half, Hiram was unable to find the back of the net finishing the night with 19 shots with 11 being on target.
Martinez's goal was his first of the season as he concluded the night with four shots.
Joseph Suarez also had three shots on goal with Muldrow and
Noah Cieza posting two.
In goal,
Shelby Edwards made seven saves.
With the loss Hiram falls to 2-4-2 on the season.
The team will open North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 4 p.m. playing at Wittenberg.
