HIRAM, Ohio - March 27, 2021 Hiram College men's lacrosse wrapped up their non-conference slate with a 7-4 win over the Mount St. Joseph Lions on Saturday at Charles A. Henry Field.

Mount St. Joseph opened the scoring in the first quarter with a pair of early goals to take a 2-0 lead. Austin Combs gave the Lions a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal with 12:34 to play in the first, before Cole Mericle made it 2-0 with a goal of his own.

However, the Terriers tied things up before the end of the first, notching their first goal of the day on Dom Medina's man-up goal, assisted by Nico Scarlato with 5:39 left in the first, before Gage St. Leone knotted the score at 2-2 with his goal, assisted by Ethan Mayer, with just under 50 seconds left in the quarter.

Mericle put the Lions back up by one with an unassisted goal 30 seconds into the second period, but the Terriers roared back, scoring three unanswered over the next 14 minutes to take a 5-3 lead.

Medina notched his second goal of the day, tying the score at 3-3 with 13:36 to play, before St. Leone added a second goal to his tally to give the Terriers a 4-3 lead.

And with 4:10 to play in the first half, Brett Johnson notched his first goal of the season to extend Hiram's lead to 5-3.

Midway through the third quarter, Medina completed the hat trick, scoring an unassisted goal with 7:44 to play in the third to extend Hiram's led to 6-3.

Mount St. Joseph's Bryce Smith made it 6-4 just over a minute later, but Johnson added another to end the quarter and give the Terriers a 7-4 advantage, which they'd hold throughout the fourth to pick up the victory.
