HIRAM, Ohio – October 27, 2021 – Hiram men's soccer fell in overtime vs Denison, 2-1, on Wednesday night at Charles A. Henry Field at Malmisur Stadium in a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match.
Approaching the end of the first half both teams were scoreless before Denison tallied the first goal of the night. Just minutes before the end of the first half, Rohan Tripathy found the back of the net for the away side on an assist from Luke Mattessich.
Heading into the intermission the Big Red led the way with 17 shots as Hiram had two.
In the 68
th minute after a cross from
Mickyas Maru,
Cole Koch found the back of the net for Hiram notching his first collegiate goal.
Within the final five minutes of the second half, Denison was able to pick up two shots on goal, but couldn't score as the teams headed to overtime.
Vitor Rocha picked up the game-winning goal for the Big Red scoring in the 91
st minute.
On the night Denison finished with 32 shots to Hiram's four.
Maru tallied his second assist on the season on the Koch goal. Additionally,
Joseph Suarez,
Isaac Opoku and Maru all had shots.

Shelby Edwards recorded a season-high 16 saves on the night.
Hiram now moves to 3-11-2 on the year and 1-7 in conference play. The Terriers conclude their season on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. vs Ohio Wesleyan at Charles A. Henry Field at Malmisur Stadium.
