HIRAM, Ohio – October 19, 2021 – Hiram men's soccer beat Allegheny, 3-2, picking up their first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) victory of the season at Charles A. Henry Field.
Nicholas Taliani claimed the first goal of the match with a 27
th-minute strike seeing the Gators take a 1-0 lead.
Leading goal scorer
Isaac Opoku notched his seventh goal of the season in the 39
th minute with an assist from
David Sutton.
At the break, each team broke into the double-digits in shots with Hiram having 11 and Allegheny ten.
Less than 15 minutes into the second half
Mickyas Maru scored the second goal of the night for the Terriers with Opoku assisting. The goal is the first of the year for Maru.
Anthony Melograne evened the match in the 85
th minute as once again the Gators tied the match. Less than a minute later
Jason Martinez scored on a penalty kick goal putting the Terriers up 3-2 as the home side held on for the lead.
Individually, Martinez led the team with four shots, as
Albert Gallegos had three.

Shelby Edwards recorded his second-most saves of the year picking up nine for the match.
Hiram improves to 3-9-2 on the year as the team moves to 1-5 in NCAC play. The Terriers next hit the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 23 playing at #15 Kenyon.
