Jenna Nelson Breaks School Record in Tri-Meet at Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio - February 1, 2020- Jenna Nelson of the Hiram College swimming and diving team broke the 100-yard IM school record in the tri-meet against Oberlin and Ursuline, Saturday afternoon.

Nelson had a meet filled with career-best, breaking the school record in the 100-yard IM in 1:06.87, before posting the second-fastest time in school history in the 50-yard breaststroke (34.27), less than 00.20 of a second from the fastest time.

The senior also won the 100-yard breaststroke clocking in at 1:12.50.

Junior Angie Ross finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.21, a personal best.

Other notable finishes included sophomore Carlee Lisser with a third-place time in the 50-yard backstroke (33.86) and the 100-yard IM (1:10.97).

Devin Gear posted a third-place time in the 50-yard freestyle (24.65) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.53).

Hiram fell to Chatham 193-8 on the men's side, and 187-47 on the women's. While the women fell by a score of 101-89 to Ursuline.

The Terriers will travel to Granville, Ohio on Wednesday, Feb.12 for day one of the North Coast Athletic Conference. The meet is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
