Pongracz Shines in 1-0 Victory Over Grove City

Box Score
Oct.9-HIRAM, Ohio- The Hiram College women's soccer team secured their second straight win, defeating the Grove City Wolverines 1-0 on Wednesday night.

The scoring action all boiled down to the 69th minute when sophomore Kaitlyn Pongracz scored her first collegiate goal off an unassisted shot (1-0).

That goal seemed a long time coming for the Terriers in the match. In the first half, the Terriers took just five shots, while posting two of their five corner kicks of the game.

Despite the Wolverines tallying 14 shots on goal, Hiram was able to keep them scoreless for the 90 minutes of work.

That one goal and some solid defense were all it took for Hiram, who improved to 3-9 overall. On the other side of the field, Grove City fell to 5-5-2 on the season.

With the victory, Hiram collects their first series win against the Wolverines.

For the match, the Terriers finished with 15 shots and six on goal.

Senior Ally Green finished with 13 saves to mark her sixth multi-save performance of the season.

"Overall it was a great team win tonight. We talked all week about how and what we need to execute, and we were able to do that tonight," commented head coach Michael Cracas. "I'm extremely proud of the girls in the hard work they put in tonight, and we've got to get back after it tomorrow and get focused on DePauw."

Hiram will hit the road on Saturday, October 12, as they take on DePauw. The conference matchup is slated for a 5:00 p.m. start.
