GRANVILLE, Ohio - October 30, 2019 - A second-half goal from sophomore
Isaac Opoku secured the Hiram men's soccer team's 2-1 victory over Denison, Wednesday evening.
In the 35th minute, Hiram got on the board first as sophomore
Tommy Rink found the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Senior
Brian Corbin set Rink up to score, giving the Terriers the 1-0 lead.
Less than two minutes later, Denison pulled the game even as Leo Herard beat the Hiram keeper to tie the game (1-1).
The Terriers came back in the 50th minute as a penalty kick from Opoku helped Hiram re-take the advantage (2-1).
Sophomore
Shelby Edwards and senior
CJ Keith divided time in goal. In the first 45 minutes of work, Edwards finished with five of the seven Hiram saves.
With the win, Hiram is now 6-9-2 overall and 2-6 in the NCAC. Denison drops to 6-9-1 overall and 3-5 in the conference.
The Terriers wrap up their 2019 campaign on the road in a matchup against Ohio Wesleyan. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start.
