HIRAM, Ohio - October 26, 2019 – Hiram Men's Soccer hung with the 14th-ranked Kenyon College Lords for the first and much of the second half but fell short by the final score of 2-0 on Senior Night on Saturday at Charles A. Henry Field.
Senior C.J. Keith and the Terriers kept the Lords off the scoreboard in the first half with six first-half saves. But Hiram couldn't get much going offensively, in the first half, as the Lords held them without a shot.
Things picked up in the second half as the Terriers and Lords combined for 12 shots, but it was the Lords who found paydirt first.
In the 82nd minute, Sam Carson gave the Lords a 1-0 lead, finding the back of the net off an assist from Sebastian Gaese.
And just over five minutes later, Tomas Munoz connected off an assist from Carson in the 87th minute to extend Kenyon's lead to 2-0.
The Terriers got a shot and a corner kick in the final few minutes, but weren't able to convert, giving the Lords the 2-0 victory.
With the loss, the Terriers fall to 5-9-2 (1-6 NCAC) on the year, while the Lords move to 13-1-2 (5-0-2 NCAC) on the season.
Ben Zuniga led Hiram with one shot on goal, with Keith made nine saves.
Hiram next travels to Granville, Ohio on Wednesday, Oct. 30 to take on the Denison Big Red at 7:00 p.m. at Barclay-Thomsen Field.
