GREENCASTLE, Ind. - October 12, 2019 – Keegan Le'Roux scored two goals in the final 25 minutes, but the Hiram Terriers' men's soccer team fell to the DePauw University Tigers, 3-2, on Saturday at Reavis Stadium.
After a few early Terrier shots were saved by Dylan Ruzbasan, Sam Kramer got the Tigers on the scoreboard first off in the 19th minute an assist from Jay Klein, giving DePauw a 1-0 lead.
Neither team was able to get much going, offensively, the rest of the way, combining for just three total shots, and the Terriers went into halftime down 1-0.
DePauw quickly extended their lead in the 53rd minute, as Klein knocked it past the keeper off the assist from Kramer, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
Just under six minutes later, Klein added another, again off the assist from Kramer, to make it 3-0 DePauw, but the Terriers wouldn't go down without a fight.
In the 75th-minute following a corner kick, Le'Roux scored his first of two goals, and his seventh of the year, to cut DePauw's lead to 3-1.
Le'Roux had another shot saved in the 85th minute before he found the back of the net again, cutting DePauw's lead to 3-2 in the 88th-minute off an assist from Vincent Rienzi.
But DePauw's three-goal advantage proved to be too much, as Ruzbasan and the Tigers held Hiram without a shot the rest of the way to secure the 3-2 victory.
Hiram outshot DePauw, 15-10, but Ruzbasan made seven saves, compared to just one for the Terriers.
With the loss, Hiram drops to 5-5-2 (1-2 NCAC) on the year, while DePauw moves to 8-4 (2-1 NCAC) with the win.
Hiram will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 when they host the College of Wooster in an NCAC matchup at 7:30 p.m. at Charles A. Henry Field.
