Terriers Fall to Wittenberg in 2017 Finale

October 28 - HIRAM, Ohio - The Hiram College women's soccer team finished their 2017 campaign, dropping a 3-0 decision to visiting Wittenberg University on Saturday evening. 

Prior to the evening's matchup, the Terriers honored six seniors competing for the final time at Charles A. Henry Field. The seniors included Holly Knight, Alina Mille, Lisa Dano, Emily Syrjala, as well as captains Rebecca Fischer and Delaney Stryczek. 

The Tigers spoiled the Terriers' party in the first half, peppering the Hiram goal by outshooting the Terriers 18-1 through the first 45 minutes. 

Wittenberg broke through in the ninth minute as Jordyn Wright connected from 35 yards out, burying the ball in the top right corner to stake the visitors to a 1-0 lead. 

Despite facing 12 more shots in the half, sophomore Ally Green stood tall, making 10 saves. Wittenberg converted on their 18th shot of the stanza, however, cashing in on a breakaway in the final minute to send the game into the half with the Tigers leading 2-0. 

Wittenberg would add one more tally in the final 45 minutes, rounding out the scoring, 3-0. 

Green was solid in net despite facing 17 shots on goal. The sophomore made 14 stops on the day, tying her career high. 

Hiram finishes the season 3-13-1, while the victory for Wittenberg  propelled the Tigers to the second seed in the upcoming NCAC Championship Tournament.
