HIRAM, Ohio -- The Hiram Collge women's soccer team fell in its NCAC opener to Wooster by a 1-0 score on Saturday evening.

The Terriers are now 3-6-0 on the season and 0-1-0 in NCAC play, while the Fighting Scots improve to 7-2-1, 1-0-0.

Wooster looked poised to take the lead in the 25th minute when Harper Jones fired a shot from the left side of the box. Her attempt hit the crossbar and a follow up effort was deflected out of bounds by senior Kailie Reed (Wadsworth, Ohio).

The Fighting Scots would score later in the half, when Sadie Norton connected on a pass from Devin Frisby at the 32:52 mark.

Hiram looked to answer and a shot moments later, but the Wooster goalie was able to sto a shot by junior Alison Cowell (Bridgeton, Mo./Duchanse).

In the second half, the Terriers were able to go on the attack with Cowell streaking towards the goal in the 52nd minute. Wooster's goalie came out to block Cowell's attempt and a follow up effort from junior Genna Atkins (Eureka, Mo.) sailed high.

In the 69th minute, Wooster was able to sneak behind the defense and get a look at the goal. Sophomore Alina Mille (Medina, Ohio) came out and denied the scoring attempt.

The Terriers threatened in the closing minutes, producing their first corner kick opportunity of the match. Sophomore Kaitlin Zemanski (Munroe Fall, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) sent the corner kick into the box and it bounced around and was eventually cleared by the Wooster defense.

Reed made two saves in the first half and Mille made one save in the second.

Wooster held a 11-6 edge in shots and a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Terriers will be back at it on Wednesday, when they host Otterbein in a non-conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
