BETHANY, W. Va. -- Junior Katelyn Mauch (Parma, Ohio/Normady) scored two goals to lead the Hiram College women's soccer team to a 3-1 win at non-conference foe Bethany (W. Va.) on Monday evening.

The Terriers are now 3-5-0 on the season, while the Bison drop to 2-5-0.

Mauch wasted no time getting Hiram on the board, taking a pass from junior Kristen Verel (Aurora, Ohio) and scoring just 4:15 into the match.

The Bison would battle back and knot the score at 1-1 on a goal at the 37:08 mark.

But that lead was short lived as the Terriers responded just 22 seconds later with Allie Glatt (Cincinnat, Ohio) scoring her team leading eighth goal of the season to put Hiram back in front 2-1.

Mauch added an insurance goal for Hiram in the 52nd minute, with junior Emily Syrjala (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Prep) picking up the assist on the play. Mauch now has four goals, which is second most on the squad.

Senior Kailie Reed (Wadsworth, Ohio) made two stops in the first half and sophomore Alina Mille (Medina, Ohio) did not record a save in the second 45 minutes of play.

"Tonight was a great team effort," said head coach Michael Cracas. "We played a full 90 minutes across the board. This is something we can build off of as we head into conference play this weekend."

The Terriers outshot Bethany 26-5, including a 16-3 edge in shots on goal. The Terriers also had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Hiram will open NCAC action on Saturday as it hosts Wooster at 5 p.m.
