HIRAM, Ohio -- The Hiram College men's swimming & diving team fell to Division II foe Malone 100-77 on Friday evening.
The Terriers are now 0-3 on the season, while the Pioneers improve to 3-0.
Senior Danny Essel (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) and junior Jamal Hill (Inglewood, Calif./Junipero Serra) each won two events to lead Hiram.
Essel was the winner in the 200-meter I.M. with a time of 2:33.16 and also touched first in the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:43.93.Hill touched first in the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle in 27.43 seconds and 1:00.50, respectively.
Essel also teamed with junior Jordan Canevari (Vero Beach, Fla./St. Edward's), sophomore John Kost (Chantilly, Va./Westfield) and freshman Reeve Bowling (Minneapolis, Minn./Thomas Jefferson) for a second place finish in the 200-meter medley relay in 2:03.32.
Freshman Jacob Crowl (Fontana, Calif./Etiwanda) was second in the 100-meter freestyle in 1:00.60 and finished third in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 27.53.
Sophomore Jory Gomes (Elk Grove, Calif./Consumres Oaks) finished third in the 200-meter I.M. with a time of 2:41.10.
Hiram will be back at it on Saturday, hosting both Baldwin Wallace and Wooster at 1 p.m.
