UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OHIO -- Freshman Jonathan Ruiz (Freeport, N.Y.) recorded a second and third place finish to lead the Hiram College men's swimming & diving team at John Carroll on Friday.
The Terriers (0-10) fell to the Blue Streaks (4-4) in the non-conference meet 134-78.
Ruiz was second in the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best 23.97 seconds and was third in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.43.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, sophomore Jordan Canevari (Vero Beach, Fla./St. Edward's) touched second in 11:23.43 and freshman John Kost (Chantilly, Va./Westfield) was second in the 400-yard I.M. with a time of 4:52.86.
Freshman Rylan Zeis (Newark/Granville) also had a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke touching in 1:06.24. Junior Christian Kelly (Walpole, Mass.) was right behind in third in 1:08.69.
Freshman Kyle Sarver (Parma/Parma Senior) finished third in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.25, while freshman Jory Gomes (Elk Grove, Calif./Consumres Oaks) notched a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:07.81.
Sarver also was third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:28.04.
Hiram will have a quick turnaround and will return to the pool on Saturday, when it hosts Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) in its final home meet of the season at 1 p.m.
