GREENCASTLE, IND -- Senior quarterback Robert Partridge (Massillon/Washington) broke the single season passing record, but the Hiram College football team fell at DePauw (Ind.) 45-12 on Saturday afternoon.

The Terriers drop to 4-5 on the season and 3-5 in the NCAC, while the Tigers improve to 7-2, 6-2.

A eight-yard pass completion from Partridge to freshman Jacolby Goldsmith (Houston, Tex./Bellaire) gave Partridge 1,990 passing yards this season, bettering the record of 1,989 set by Ron Devorsky in 1985.

Freshman Alec Wells (Aurora) threw for 80 yards and rushed for 43 yards on six carries. He also scored his first career touchdown.

Defensively, junior Zachary Bennett (Newark) led Hiram with eight tackles, while junior Andrew Torres (Cape Coral, Fla./Mariner) and sophomore Kyle Burchett (Fairport Harbor/Harding) each finished with seven.

The Tigers would open up the game by marching right down the field and scoring on a three-yard touchdown pass from Matt Hunt to J.D. Robinson.

The Terriers would respond with a 13-play, 53-yard drive that was capped off by a 38-yard field goal from senior Greg Klisuric (Mentor), cutting Hiram's deficit to 7-3.

But from there it was all DePauw from there as the Tigers would force three turnovers and score 31 unanswered points to take a 38-3 lead into the half.

Hiram would get a 23-yard field goal from Klisuric to cap off a 13-play, 70-yard drive midway through the third quarter and Wells scored on a one-yard run early in the fourth.

Hunt finished the game with 235 yards passing and five touchdowns for the Tigers.

Hiram will close out the regular season on November 15, when it hosts Oberlin at Henry Field at 1 p.m. The Terriers will honor their seniors before the beginning of the game.
