Women's Soccer Defeated by Otterbein

HIRAM, OHIO  --  The Hiram College women's soccer team was defeated by Otterbein University, 4-2, in a non-conference game at Charles A. Henry Field.

Otterbein (4-3-1) scored two goals in the first half, scoring its first at the 24:16 minute mark to take a 1-0 lead.  Hiram (6-3) evened the score at a goal apiece on a header by freshman Allie Glatt (Cincinnati/Seton) off of a corner kick from sophomore Michaela Edmond (Sherman, Conn./New Milford).  Otterbein regained the lead just before the end of the half during the 40th minute to lead 2-1 at the intermission.

In the second half, Hiram tied the game at 2-2 at the 50:52 mark with a goal by Edmond and an assist from freshman Alison Cowell (Bridgeton, Mo./Duchesne).  But the Cardinals tallied the final two goals of the game with what would be the game winner coming at the 54:04 mark and then sealed the victory with another score during the 72nd minute en route to the 4-2 final.

In net for Hiram, sophomore Kailie Reed (Wadsworth) played all 90 minutes, but suffered the loss and is now 6-3 overall for the season.  She allowed four goals and had seven saves.

Hiram will host Heidelberg University in a non-conference game on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Henry Field.  The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
