Box Score HIRAM, OHIO -- The Hiram College volleyball team was defeated by Case, 3-1, in a non-conference match at Price Gymnasium.
Case (11-12) defeated Hiram (16-7) by the scores of 25-17, 16-25, 25-20 and 26-24. The Terriers were led offensively by the duo of sophomore Lindsay Brewer (Barberton/Manchester) and freshman Marissa Jay (Parma/Padua Franciscan) with 12 kills each. All-North Coast Athletic Conference junior Jennifer Yardas (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) was third with nine kills. Freshman Claire Maier (Huntsville/Indian Lake) tallied a team-high 29 set assists.
Defensively, Hiram had three players record double-figures in digs with the duo of junior Regina Zyle (Cleveland/Beaumont) and senior Danielle Day (Newbury) leading the way with 14 digs each. Freshman Laura Kelly (Massillon/Jackson) was third with 10 digs. Freshman Nikolette Scruggs (Barberton) led the team in blocking with two solo blocks and three assists.
Hiram will travel to Delaware for a NCAC match against Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, Oct. 19. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
