Hiram College

Conley enters his third season as head coach of the Hiram College men's volleyball program in 2024. Conley was hired as the fourth head coach in Hiram men's volleyball program history on Oct. 18, 2021 and joined the Terriers with over 440 career wins and 30 years of coaching experience, most recently with the Eastside Cleveland Junior Volleyball Club in Mentor, Ohio.

Conley led the Terriers to their first 20-win season in program history in 2022 and followed it up with a second straight AMCC Tournament appearance in 2023. There have been six different student-athletes to land all-conference honors under Conley, including Kilvio Montero (2022), Tom Supan (2022) and Kyle Martini (2023) on the All-AMCC First Team. Supan was also named the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year ahead of the 2022 campaign.
 
In addition to his role as Assistant Director with the Eastside Cleveland Junior Volleyball Club, Conley has also owned and operated All Athletix since 1990, teaching private and public classes in individual skill development and team concepts for numerous sports, including track and field, volleyball, basketball, football, baseball and soccer.
 
Prior to joining the Eastside Cleveland Junior Volleyball Club, Conley spent five seasons as the head women's volleyball coach at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Under his tutelage, the Golden Flashes made four Mid-American Conference Tournament appearances, including a 22-10 (11-5 MAC) record and a semifinal appearance in 2007, and eight student-athletes earned all-conference honors.
 
Previously, Conley also spent eight years as the head women's volleyball coach at the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. from 1999-2006, Conley guided the Black Nights to eight-straight Patriot League Tournament appearances, including three championship appearances, earning coach of the year honors three times, in 2001, '04 and '05.
 
Over his eight years at Army, Conley amassed a 142-88 record, coached 21 All-Patriot League honorees, including two Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year winners, two rookie of the year winners and one setter of the year, as well as more than 30 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll honorees.
 
Conley began his coaching career at West Point as an assistant track & field coach after one season in 1994 as the head women's volleyball coach at Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y., before eventually transitioning to the women's volleyball head coaching role in 1999.
 
Before joining the Highlanders, Conley began his collegiate head coaching career at Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pa., coaching the Fighting Scots for eight seasons. A two-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Coach of the Year with the Fighting Scots, Conley posted a 195-81 (.707) record over his eight seasons with the program, and reached six-straight PSAC Championships from 1988-93, winning the PSAC title in both 1989 and 1990.
 
A 1979 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Conley began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. in 1984, spending three seasons with the Gamecocks before leaving for the head coaching job at Edinboro.
 
A world-class jumper, Conley is the world record holder in the high jump in the over-40 age group. In 1998, he became the first man over the age of 40 to clear seven feet and currently holds the world masters' mark at 7' 0 5/8" (2.15 meters).
 
A native of Middlefield, Ohio, Conley earned his bachelor's degree in history from BGSU in Bowling Green, Ohio in 1979, and his master's degree in exercise science from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio in 1994.
 
He and his wife, Pam, have three children, Michael, Mackenzie and Jennifer.
