Hiram College

Oberlin, OH - September 5, 2026 - The Hiram Terriers Football team traveled to Oberlin, OH Saturday afternoon for their first game of the 2026 season. The Terriers would open up their campaign against their former NCAC foe the Oberlin College Yeomen. Hiram would dominate the game in all assets, defeating the Yeomen 33-2 to secure their first victory of the new season. 

The Terriers would start off strong to begin the game — forcing a three and out on the Yeomen opening drive. The Terriers would get the ball back and waste no time scoring, capping off the drive with Isaiah Livingstone bulldozing two Oberlin defenders to score a touchdown.

The Terrier defense was also continuing to dominate. 

Late in the first, the Yeomen were threatening to score with the ball inside the Terriers 10- yard line. Brice Criggall would then go on to intercept the ball in the endzone on a tipped pass— eliminating any chance for the Yeomen to score.

Early in the second with Hiram threatening to take a two score lead, Sean Tejeda would find Jamal Van Irvin for a 20 yard touchdown, giving the Terriers the two score lead. Tejeda would not be done in the second, where he would also scamper in for a two yard touchdown rush, only after making a 36 yard completion in the play prior. Capping off the first half was the defense, when Tanner Merwin would make a one-handed interception to seal any sort of chance for the Yeomen to score before the half. The Terriers would lead 20-0 heading into the break. 

Hiram wasted no time opening up the scoring in the second half, when Tejeda would find Dylan Hargas across the middle for a 12 yard TD catch, giving the Terriers a commanding 27-0 lead. The Hiram defense was outstanding, giving np chance for Oberlin to get on the scoreboard.

Late in the fourth, TJ Allen would rush up the middle and reach over for a 10 yard rushing touchdown — capping the scoring for the Terriers. Hiram would end up defeating the Yeomen in dominate fashion 33-2.

Sean Tejeda would lead the Terriers in passing, finishing 22-30 with 243 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. The Terriers ground attack was pulverizing, with Isaiah Livingstone and TJ Allen both finishing with 53 yards on the ground. The Terriers would rush for 144 yards and 3 TD's as a team. Leading the receiving category for Hiram was Dylan Hargas, who finished with 7 catches for 80 yards. Finishing one yard short was Jamal Van Irvin, who brought in 5 catches for 79 yards. Devin Tufts would also have a great day, finishing with 4 catches for 44 yards. 

Defensively, the Terriers were led by the play of Joshua Bohurjack, who finished with 7 tackles, including a sack for a loss of 8 yards. Darius Cofield-Washington would also impress, finishing with 5 tackles including 2 TFL's.  Kole Scott would also have 5 tackles, marking an impressive start to his career.

The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday, September 12th, when they will host to Manchester University, with kickoff slated for 1 p.m.
