Terriers Sweep Thiel, Gain Ground In Top Half Of PAC Standings

Hiram Posts 2 Come-From-Behind Efforts Against Tomcats

HIRAM, Ohio – April 11, 2026 – Hiram swept Thiel for the second consecutive season on Saturday afternoon at Tomcat Park, beating the Tomcats twice (5-3 and 7-4) to improve their conference record at 7-3.

The Terriers displayed a balance hitting effort in a come-from-behind win in Game 1, while junior Hannah Marlow led a hitting clinic in Game 2.

Game 1 Recap

Hiram made its biggest move in the sixth inning, when the Terriers scored three runs to carve out a 5-3 advantage, which held through the final out. Marlow started the rally with an RBI single up the middle. Pitching errors by the Tomcats allowed two more runs to score.

Six different student-athletes recorded a hit, featuring Lola Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with a single and 2 walks.

Yasmine Clark pitched her second consecutive complete game in the circle. The junior finished with a final line of 7.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 SO.

Game 2 Recap

Game 2 followed a similar format, with Hiram sealing the win within the last two innings.

With a 4-4 tie game heading into the sixth inning, Daynna Mekaru doubled in two runs, followed by an RBI single by Tristen Gonzalez. In the seventh inning, Kayla Prigge knocked in a run off a single, while Marlow capped the inning off with her second RBI single of the day.  Marlow continues to lead the Terriers offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles.

Prigge, Thomas, Marlow and Hannah Schimmoeller all chipped in two-plus hits apiece.  Sarah Ciereszewski pitched her first complete game of the season with 7.0 IP,  7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 SO.

What's Next

Hiram will travel to Franciscan University for a resumption of a doubleheader on Monday. The doubleheader was suspended on 3/31 due to lightning. The two teams will finish the seventh inning of Game 1 followed by Game 2. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
