HIRAM, Ohio – March 28, 2026 – Hiram took down Franciscan for their first PAC sweep of the season on Saturday afternoon at Fishel Field, beating the Barons twice (10-5 and 12-10) to even their conference record at 3-3.
Nicolas Chernitsky had an outstanding day on the mound as he recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts. The 12 strikeout game ties Jeff Nastase and John Prejsnar for the third-most strikeouts in a game in program history. Chernitsky was backed up with a consistent offense, as the Terriers had 29 hits across the two games.
Game 1 Recap
In his second win of the season, Chernitsky gave up eight hits on a career-high 118 pitches thrown in seven innings pitched.
Chernitsky received plenty of run support in Game 1, as the Terriers led 8-0 through five innings. Tyler Fernandez opened the third-inning rally, recording his 11th and 12th RBIs of the season off an infield single. Matthew Trimble added a single to right field to score Fernandez. Logan Gallentine closed the Terriers hottest inning of the game with a double down the left-field line, scoring Trimble.
Luke Snider carried the weight the rest of the game, as he had his first RBI of the day in the fourth inning with a single to shortstop. Later in the sixth, Snider hit his third home run of the year, with a two-run blast to left field.
Game 2 Recap
Snider picked up where he left off in Game 1, going 2-4 with two RBI. The outfielder hit an RBI double in the first inning and an RBI single in the second inning, with Ryan scoring each time. Ryan tied the program record and had a career-high for hits in a single game, tallying five base knocks, which included an RBI single in the fifth and RBI double in the sixth inning.
The Barons pulled within three runs in the sixth inning until Ben Yoder and Ryan sparked back-to-back RBI to regain a commanding advantage.
Braeden Kinnaird went 5.1 innings pitched, good enough for his first win of the season. The sophomore tossed 86 pitches and had four strikeouts. The bullpen carried the workload the rest of the game, allowing just six hits.
