Terriers Defeat Tomcats In Closely Contested Battle

Hiram Makes Clutch Plays At End To Win 72-69

HIRAM, Ohio- February 4, 2026- The Hiram women's basketball team welcomed the Tomcats from Thiel College for a late afternoon PAC matchup on Wednesday inside Price Gymnasium. It was a very closely contested game, as the Terriers hung tough before securing a one-possession victory over the Tomcats.

The game was close the entire 40 minutes, with neither team gaining a clear advantage over the other -- neither team led by more than 7 points the entire game. The Terriers held a 2-point advantage at halftime, as both teams were moving back and forth, but the Terriers made several plays in the second half to snatch the victory over the Tomcats.

Among those many plays was a jump shot from Emma Osborn, who gave her team a 66-65 lead with a rainbow jump shot with 1:24 remaining in the fourth quarter. Thiel responded with a go-ahead layup of its own, but Sarah Seaman roared back with another big shot, finding an open lane and scoring to give her team a 68-67 advantage with 47 seconds left.

Advika Srinivasan did the rest of the damage by earning her way to the charity stripe, where she sunk four consecutive free throws to give her team a 3-point lead. Thiel had a chance to sink a game-tying 3-pointer, but the Terriers defense came through during the final possession of regulation to earn the win and advance into a tie for third place in the PAC North Division.

Leading the way for the Terriers was Maya Joiner, who dropped 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for yet another double-double. This double-double marks the sixth of the season, as Joiner continues to be a force on the glass.

Not far behind was Sarah Seaman, who dropped 15 points and grabbed five rebounds. Srinivasan finished with 9 points and two assists, which included that 4-4 mark from the free-throw line. Dropping 11 points and grabbing six rebounds to go with six assists was Isabella Caceres, who finished 5-14 from the field.

The Terriers will be back in action on Saturday, when they travel to Waynesburg to face the Yellow Jackets, with the tipoff set for 1 p.m.
