Hiram Fights Hard But Falls To Trailblazers 4-1

North Adams, MA – November 7, 2026 – The Hiram men's hockey team returned back to face the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Trailblazers on Saturday evening in Massachusetts. The Terriers would fight hard against the Trailblazers, but would fall in a battle with MCLA with the final score of 4-1.

The first period would be a defensive battle, with the Terriers fighting hard against MCLA early. The Trailblazers would open up the scoring in the first, where they would take an early 1-0 lead, with the Terriers battling with MCLA. MCLA would add another goal late in the first, with the Trailblazers taking a 2-0 lead at the end of the first.

MCLA would add a goal early in the second, but the Terrier defense would battle back, not allowing the Trailblazers to carry their momentum into the third. Both teams would end in a stalemate after the early goal, with the Terriers battling to keep the score at 3-0, which would be the score at the end of the second.

MCLA would then add another goal early in the third, extending their lead to 4-0, but Hiram would continue to be stellar defensively, not allowing the Trailblazers to keep their momentum. Late in the third, Hiram would add a goal of their own, when Keith Smilowitz would score a power play goal off of the pass of Christopher Friberg, cutting the deficit to 4-1. MCLA would end up securing a victory with a final score of 4-1, but not without a fight from the Terriers.

Scoring the goal with 11 seconds left in the third was Keith Smilowitz, who would pick up his first goal on the season on an impressive power play goal. Christopher Friberg would pick up his second assist on the season, as he continues to be impressive to begin the season.
