HIRAM, Ohio – October 3, 2026 – Hiram College women's soccer battled top-three PAC-ranked Waynesburg College to an impressive 1-1 draw Saturday evening at John F. Wiley Field.
The Yellow Jackets controlled much of the offensive pressure throughout the match, outshooting the Terriers 27-5, but Hiram's defense and goalkeeper Madie Kennedy kept Waynesburg off the scoreboard for the majority of the night. Kennedy commanded the box throughout the match, recording 10 saves and allowing just one goal.
Offensively, it was a freshman-to-freshman connection that gave the Terriers the 1-0 advantage.
In the 60th minute, freshman Jayden Friedman broke the scoreless tie with the first goal of her collegiate career. Fellow freshman Haley Dick provided the assist, marking the first career assist for Dick.
After 22 shots, Waynesburg finally found the back of the net in the 71st minute to even the match at 1-1.
With the Yellow Jackets pressing for the go-ahead goal late, Kennedy came up big once again. The Hiram goalkeeper recorded back-to-back saves in the final minutes to preserve the draw and secure a impressive performance against Waynesburg.Â
Hiram will travel to Greenville, PA on Wednesday night to take on the Thiel Tomcats at 5 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.Â
