Hiram Earns PAC Road Sweep

Attacking Trio Strikes Again For Terriers

HIRAM, Ohio – October 10, 2026 – Hiram College women's volleyball hit the ground running in its Saturday afternoon conference road match against Saint Vincent College, earning a 3-0 sweep with set scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 25-19. 

The Terrier's offense was led by the trio of Maggie Riley, Sofia Smotek and Megan Chiang, who each recorded double-digit kills. Riley and Smotek finished with 11 kills apiece, while Chiang added 10, accounting for 32 of Hiram's 48 total kills. 

Courtney Johnson led the team with 21 assists, while Mia Nelson added 13. Smotek also contributed on defense with 11 digs, while libero Jacey English led the Terriers with 16 digs. 

Hiram opened the match with a come-from-behind win in the first set. Trailing 16-14, the Terriers rattled off six straight points to take a 20-16 lead. Saint Vincent responded with two points of its own, but Hiram closed out the set by scoring another five straight points behind kills from Smotek and Madelyn Petrulis. 

The next two sets were controlled by the Terriers. Hiram posted a match-high .417 hitting percentage in the second set and held a 23-10 lead at one point. Saint Vincent added a few points late, but Hiram secured the set 25-15 to move within one set of the sweep. 

Riley spearheaded the Terrier's attack in the final set, recording six of her 11 kills to help finish off the Bearcats. Petrulis also stepped up defensively, adding two blocks in the third set as Hiram closed out the match with a 25-19 victory. 

The Terriers will return home Wednesday to host Geneva College in a conference matchup at Price Gymnasium. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
