Caceres, Offense Explode In 3rd Quarter Despite Loss To Chatham

Terriers Make Halftime Adjustments In Entertaining Conference Battle

HIRAM, Ohio - January 24, 2026 - Hiram bounced back from a slow start, as the team posted a 25-point third quarter in a 70-56 loss to Chatham on Saturday afternoon at Price Gymnasium.

The Cougars improved to 12-4 overall (5-3 in PAC play), which is tied for the second-most wins in the entire conference this season.

The Terriers were spearheaded by Isabella Caceres, who had 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting in her return to the starting backcourt. Sarah Seaman and Star Owens each added 13 points, but Chatham's 34 points off turnovers proved to be the difference in the contest.

Despite facing a 32-17 deficit at the intermission, Hiram ramped up its efficiency on the offensive end of the court to produce one of its best quarters of the 2025-26 season. The team scored 25 points on 10-15 shooting in the third period, which included 12 points from Caceres alone. The Terriers had six different student-athletes score in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 8 points in the process.

Caceres continued rolling at the start of the fourth quarter, scoring 5 of the first 7 points in the period to make it a 52-47 margin with 7:15 remaining in regulation. Chatham answered with a 12-2 run of its own, extending its lead back to 15 points.

The road team was able to hold that double-digit advantage through the final whistle despite more production from Seaman and Owens in the remaining minutes.

Next, Hiram takes on Grove City on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Grove City, PA.
