HIRAM, Ohio - January 23, 2026 - Hiram swimming could not have scripted a better finish to the regular season on Friday night at Alumni Memorial Pool, as the record book was rewritten and both teams competed through the final event in the last stop before the PAC Championships next month.
Â
Owen Pastorius spearheaded both teams by breaking the Alumni Memorial Pool record in the 1,500-meter freestyle (17:17.43), while the rest of the team's upperclassmen also had strong finishes to the regular season in one of the program's few night meets in recent years.
Â
Men's Recap
Â
Pastorius erupted once he tapped the wall and finished the final length of his 1,500-meter journey, as he cruised past the competition and earned his team nine points in the meet. His time was nearly a full 13 seconds better than the next-best mark in the history of Alumni Memorial Pool (Zach Wegman in 2010, 17:30.39).
Â
Senior Jon Hybil also wrapped his time at Alumni Memorial Pool in style, winning the 100-meter breaststroke (1:12.43) and 200-meter breaststroke (2:56.34), while also being part of the winning 200-meter freestyle relay team that also included David Slovenkay, Pastorius and Ethan O'Malley (1:43.72).Â
Â
Slovenkay, who is finishing up his third year with the program, was also a winner Â
on Friday, taking down the 100-meter backstroke (1:09.44) and 200-meter backstroke (2:43.05). Joe Krosky capped off the individual wins in the 200-meter butterfly (2:42.66).
Â

Â
The women's team began its evening in the 200-meter medley relay, with the team of Grace Basham, Mya Libertine, Madison Fleischer and Becca Johnston posting a time of 2:41.77. Basham later swam in both the 100-meter backstroke (1:32.80) and 100-meter freestyle (1:24.00).
