HIRAM, Ohio – January 17, 2026 – Hiram women's wrestling fell short to John Carroll on Saturday morning at Price Gymnasium, 25-13. Despite the loss, senior Allydia Byard was honored before the meet for Senior Day before she went on to win over JCU's Leslie Sullivan (160 lbs) by fall (1:32).
The victory by Byard was the highlight of the day, as the student-athlete with the fourth-most wins in program history – and the future alumni from the Hiram women's wrestling program (third all-time) – put forth a convincing effort against the Northeast Ohio competition. The win marked Byard's fifth of the season, four of which have come by pin fall.
Byard has found success in the 160-lb class this season after earning first place at the AMCC meet in that same weight class last year. Byard was also named an NWCA Scholar All-American at the conclusion of her first season with the program in 2022-23.
Also earning a victory on the morning was Emily Lorenzon, who won the 207-lb weight class by forfeit. Kretina Rai (124 lbs), DeJonae Rivers (131 lbs) and Alazhandra Williams (180 lbs) all competed hard but lost in their bouts against the Blue Streaks.
The Terriers will have a quick turnaround, as a few select wrestlers will be competing in the Mount Union Open on Sunday in Alliance, OH.
