HIRAM, Ohio - January 10, 2026 - Hiram met a familiar foe on Saturday afternoon, as the men's and women's swimming teams took on an NCAC opponent in Wooster inside Alumni Memorial Pool. The men lost by a score of 178-36, while the women fell short, 174-17.

The meet marked an important return to competition for both teams following a month-and-a-half break from meets. The two teams have worked hard throughout that span, which included a training trip to Florida.

Men's Recap

Owen Pastorius was within seven seconds of the top mark in the 800-meter freestyle, posting a mark of 9:30.38. Philipp Drappatz won the event with a mark of 9:23.87.

David Slovenkay was also closing in on some of the best competition the Terriers have faced all season, placing second in the 200-meter freestyle (2:09.68) and third in the 100-meter backstroke. Jon Hybil did the same in the 50-meter freestyle (25.76), placing second.

Hiram also featured the 200-meter freestyle relay team of Pastorius, Morrodox Sisowath, Tanner Markley and Ethan O'Malley, which placed third with a clip of 1:49.86.

Women's Recap

The women's side was spearheaded by the hard work of Grace Basham, who placed fourth in the 50-meter freestyle (34.33) and fourth in the 100-meter backstroke (1:29.51). Rebecca Johnston also had a strong finish in the 200-meter freestyle (3:29.16), 100-meter freestyle (1:34.12) and 100-meter breaststroke (1:47.50).

Mya Libertine wrapped up the results for the Terriers, competing well in the 200-meter IM (3:19.30), 100-meter butterfly (1:32.92) and 400-meter freestyle (6:35.80).

Hiram will stay at home and celebrate Senior Day on Saturday; both the men and women will take on Bluffton and Chatham as part of a tri-meet inside Alumni Memorial Pool. The events are set to commence at 1 p.m. in Hiram, OH.
