NEW CONCORD, Ohio – September 3, 2025 – A low-scoring affair went in favor of Muskingum on Wednesday evening, as the Hiram women's soccer team had a standout effort on defense as part of a 1-0 loss to the Fighting Muskies at the North Turf Athletic Field.
It marked the third straight instance of the Terriers defense holding Muskingum to one-or-zero goals when the teams have played in New Concord, OH, a streak that dates back to 2008.
Goalkeeper Madie Kennedy spearheaded the effort, fending off eight of the Fighting Muskies' nine shots on target to keep her team within a goal of evening the score. First-year Jada Neal also added a pair of shots on target, but Hiram couldn't break through despite a gritty effort from its defense.
The Terriers also displayed their depth throughout the match, with 18 different student-athletes logging action.
Hiram will now shift its attention to Saturday, when it will celebrate its home opener with a non-conference battle against the University of Olivet at 3:30 p.m. from Henry Field in Hiram, OH.
