Hiram Earns Longest Winning Streak Since 2022 With 2 More Wins On Friday

Terriers Top Bluffton, Wooster At Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic

WOOSTER, Ohio - September 12, 2025 – The Terriers took care of business yet again, with clean sweeps over Bluffton and Wooster on the road at the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic on Friday evening.

With the two victories, Hiram improved to 7-1 on the season and earned its first winning streak of at least five games since the 2022 season, when it won six straight contests in September.

Match 1 Recap

The offensive trio of Maggie Riley, Megan Chiang and Sofia Smotek combined for 35 of Hiram's 44 kills in the opening match of the day. On the defensive end, senior Riley France and junior Avery Clay combined for five total blocks, filling out a scoresheet that had the Terriers in control.

Hiram never trailed in the first set and erased a 6-2 deficit in the second set to gain a commanding lead. Riley totaled three of Hiram's final four kills in the second set to punctuate the rallying effort.

In the third set, the Terriers scored 15 of the last 20 points to start the event on a high note.

Match 2 Recap

Hiram wrapped things up with a 3-0 sweep over former NCAC opponent Wooster, with Smotek adding to her PAC-leading total of kills (118) by notching 11 against the hosts of the event. Chiang tallied a team-high 14 kills to push the Terriers to their second victory of the day.

The Terriers dominated all match long, scoring 45 more points than its opposition. Hiram had a .275 attack percentage (42 kills, 12 attack errors), while also holding Wooster to a -.038 attack percentage (13 kills, 17 attack errors).

Eleven different Hiram student-athletes entered the final contest of the day, including the Hiram debuts of Delaney Dean and Erin Winfield.

What's Next

Next on the docket for the Terriers will be the start of conference on Tuesday against Grove City at 7 p.m. inside Price Gymnasium.
