HIRAM, Ohio – August 22, 2025 – Hiram Athletics officially welcomed Colton Chovanec to its Athletic Communications department earlier this month; Chovanec joined the Terriers as an Assistant Director of Sports Information. Hiram now features a three-person Sports Information team, with Director of Sports Information John Alfes entering his fourth year and Assistant Director of Sports Information Karen Swartzentruber entering her second year.

Chovanec previously served as a Sports Information Assistant at Alma College (Alma, MI | Division III), where he helped in gameday operations, collecting/analyzing stats, and producing social media content. He also was an important part of the Scots cross country and track & field programs, where he earned a combined eight varsity letters while competing in the 5K and 8K events.

Chovanec earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Alma College in May 2024.

During his time away from Alma, he spent his summer working with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a Trackman Operator for the Great Lakes Loons (Midland, MI | High-A). He most recently was employed as a Paraprofessional at Breckenridge Community Schools in Breckenridge, MI.
