John Alfes is entering his second full year as Director of Sports Information in 2024-25 after starting the role in November 2022.
Alfes joined Hiram College after spending three years as a Sports Content Researcher at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut. He was responsible for creating statistical content on national storylines across ESPN television, digital media, radio and mobile platforms. His most notable work involved building graphics, writing scripts and assisting talent for SportsCenter, with similar work also involved on trips to the NBA Draft and Little League World Series.
Alfes earned a master's degree in journalism with a specialization in sports media from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2019. He earned bachelor's degrees in English and communication from John Carroll University in 2018.
