Kanno Ties Program Record For Wins, Torres Lifts Walk-Off Sac Fly In Another NCAC Sweep

Hiram Wins 6 Straight, Improves To 4-0 In Conference Play

HIRAM, Ohio - April 4, 2025 - Hiram's Darian Kanno already holds Hiram's all-time strikeout record, recording 132 more strikeouts than any other pitcher in the history of the program through the end of play on Friday.

The senior is on the brink of standing alone in another prestigious category following her latest start, which improved her 2025 record to 10-0.

Following a 3-2 victory in Game 1, Kanno officially tied Whitney Dropsey with her 44th career win in a 1-0 win in Game 2. The senior also tied her own career-high with 12 strikeouts in that victorious effort, lifting the Terriers to a 4-0 record in NCAC play in a span of 48 hours.

Game 1 Recap

Lillie Greene continued her recent run of strong outings, delivering seven innings of two-run ball to earn a third straight win. The first-year from North Lewisburg, OH has lowered her ERA by over three runs during that span, with the latest outing having a final line of 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 K.

The offense came early for the Terriers, with Danielle Robles and Megan Moser both recording singles and runs in a second inning that charged two unearned runs to the Yeowomen. Moser later recorded the go-ahead RBI single in the third inning, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Greene retired 12 of the last 13 hitters she faced from the fourth inning through the final out of Game 1.

Game 2 Recap

Kanno then stepped into the circle for Game 2, entering play just one win shy of tying the wins record and improving her record to a perfect 10-0 over 10 appearances this season.

The Mililani, HI native was more than fit for the occasion, as she limited the Yeowomen to just one hit over eight innings. Kanno stranded two runners in scoring position in the third inning and set down 17 straight batters to finish her outing in dominant fashion yet again – 8 IP, 1 H, 0 R/ER, 1 BB, 12 K.

Hiram didn't tally its first hit until the seventh inning, when Kanno ripped a hard two-hopper to shortstop to put the winning run on base. Although the team didn't score in the inning, it later found itself in a similar situation in the eighth inning, when Hannah Marlow reached second base on an error and pinch-runner Lola Thomas advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt from Moser.

Then stepped in Ari Torres, a first-year from Ontario, CA, who found just enough of the barrel of her bat to score Thomas on a game-winning sacrifice fly. It marked Hiram's second walk-off win of the season (won in eight innings vs Westminster on March 19).

What's Next

Hiram will next host Thiel for a non-conference doubleheader on Monday starting at 3:30 p.m.
