Hiram Falls To Nationally Ranked Baldwin Wallace To Start Busy Week On Road

Terriers Play First 2 Of 6 Games This Week

BEREA, Ohio - April 24, 2025 - Hiram dropped both of its games against one of the best teams in the region on Thursday afternoon, falling to No. 21 Baldwin Wallace by scores of 5-0 and 10-2 at the BW Softball Field.

The Yellow Jackets improved to 27-2 on the season, which includes 11 straight wins and a perfect 12-0 home record.

In Game 1, Hiram's Darian Kanno was outdueled by Marisa Hall in a contest that featured just 10 hits between the two teams. Kanno and Hall entered the game with a combined record of 27-1, marking two of the most successful pitchers in all of Division III this season.

After three scoreless innings, Baldwin Wallace scored in each of the next three innings to grab a 5-0 advantage. Two of the runs during that span were unearned, giving Kanno a quality start and strong final line: 6 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 6 K.

Danielle Robles, Fayth Kawamura, Angel Santellan and Megan Moser all recorded hits in the hard-fought defeat to open the afternoon.

Game 2 saw Hiram pull ahead, 2-1, on a solo home run by Kanno and a groundout in the second inning. Kanno now has sole possession of the second-most career home runs in program history (17), which includes 15 home runs since the start of her sophomore season.

Baldwin Wallace roared back with the final eight runs of the game; a grand slam in the home half of the fifth sealed the non-conference affair.

Hiram will have a great chance to bounce back this weekend, when it plays a pair of road doubleheaders against Wittenberg on Saturday and DePauw on Sunday.
