Hiram Drops Straight-Sets Match to Grove City

Martini’s 17 Kills Highlight Terriers’ Effort in Conference Loss

HIRAM, Ohio - March 19, 2025 – The Hiram men's volleyball team battled in a tight contest, but ultimately fell in straight sets to conference rival Grove City on Wednesday evening inside Price Gymnasium. The match featured numerous momentum swings, with 19 total lead changes and 38 tie scores throughout the evening.

Kyle Martini led the charge for the Terriers, recording a match-high 17 kills while hitting an impressive .393. Derek Chiang added eight kills and a service ace, while Cullen Sivak and Jackson Deubner chipped in offensively as well.

Setter Matthew Albano directed the offense with 30 assists, while also contributing defensively with three digs and a block assist. Connor Tilton anchored the back row, finishing with a team-best 11 digs.

Despite strong efforts at the net and several competitive stretches, Hiram struggled to find consistency offensively, finishing with a .073 hitting percentage against Grove City's stout defense. The Terriers pushed Grove City to the brink in both the first and third sets but couldn't break through in the final points.

The Terriers will take the court again on Thursday evening as they take on Penn State Behrend at 6 p.m. in non-conference play.
