Seniors Fuel 3-Set Win Over Geneva

Hiram Starts Busy Weekend With Smooth Victory Over Golden Tornadoes

HIRAM, Ohio - February 28, 2025 - Hiram continued to acclimate itself well to PAC competition on Friday evening, as the Terriers improved to 4-0 in conference play with a three-set win over Geneva inside Price Gymnasium: 25-17, 25-16, 25-23.

The Terriers were in control throughout the match, with the senior talent of Jackson Deubner (10 kills), Derek Chiang (10), Kyle Martini (eight) and Connor Tilton (seven) combining for 35 of the team's 40 kills. Matthew Albano had 30 assists and Hiram combined for 52 digs – its second-most in a three-set match this season – to fuel the rest of the win.

It was the constant pressure from the home team that proved to be the difference, as Hiram had six separate runs of at least three consecutive points between the first two sets combined. The balance on offense helped, too, with Albano setting up the four-headed monster of seniors on both sides of the court.

Hiram ran into a bit of a tight situation in the third set, with Geneva turning a six-point deficit into a 23-23 tie, but a pair of attack errors paved the way to a Terriers victory.

With the 4-0 conference record, Hiram remains tied with Thiel (4-0) for first place in the PAC; every other team in the conference has multiple PAC losses.

That 4-0 tie will be broken on Saturday, as Hiram is set to host a doubleheader against both the Tomcats (1 p.m.) and Adrian (3 p.m.) inside Price Gymnasium.
