Hiram Keeps Stride In 1st Half, Ultimately Falls Against No. 14 Ohio Wesleyan

Terriers Drop Matchup Against Nationally Ranked Opponent

HIRAM, Ohio – February 5, 2025 – The Hiram women's basketball team held strong in the first half against the No. 14 team in Division III before the opposition pulled away in a 91-55 loss to Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday evening at Price Gymnasium.

Despite the final result, Hiram outscored the Battling Bishops in the second quarter, 20-19, and went into the intermission facing just a 41-30 deficit. The Terriers couldn't carry that momentum into the second half, but still had a lot to build on against a team that is now 18-2 this season (9-0 in NCAC).

The Terriers were led by Brooke Hickman, who notched 17 points on 6-8 shooting over 23 minutes. Isabella Caceres added 9 points and six assists, while Jo Janda had 8 points off the bench to round out the hard-fought performance.

Ohio Wesleyan made its strides off of high-percentage shots off of turnovers; the Battling Bishops had 36 points off turnovers and finished the game with 56 points in the paint. All-American Kasey Schipfer had 34 points to lead all scorers, while Macy Miller chipped in 24 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

Hickman had 12 of her 17 points in the second half, but the Terriers persistence on both ends of the court ultimately wasn't enough against a team that is primed to make an NCAA Tournament run.

Hiram will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, when it visits Kenyon for a 2 p.m. tip-off inside Tomsich Arena.
