GREENCASTLE, Indiana - February 1, 2025 - The Hiram College women's basketball team showed fight and outscored their opposition in the second half despite a slow start, ultimately falling to DePauw, 72-52, at Neal Fieldhouse. The Terriers' second-half surge highlighted their determination as they outscored the Tigers by four points (38-34) in the final two quarters.
The game began with DePauw asserting itself defensively, holding Hiram to just 14 points by halftime. Despite the Tigers' aggressive defense,
Brooke Hickman kept the Terriers within striking distance, scoring timely baskets in the frontcourt.
Ava Mory also contributed with strong rebounding and an extra boost inside the painted area as Hiram fought to find its offensive rhythm.
Hiram emerged from halftime with renewed energy, as it shot an impressive 72.7% from the field in the third quarter, led by Hickman and Mory, who finished with 15 and 12 points respectively.
Avril Drew knocked down a clutch 3-pointer as the Terriers clawed their way back into contention.
Isabella Caceres finished the game with 10 points, including two made field goalsfrom beyond the arc, helping Hiram match DePauw's scoring in the fourth quarter.
Despite the loss, the Terriers showed their ability to rally and compete against one of the NCAC's top teams; their next matchup will be on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in a home game against Ohio Wesleyan inside Price Gymnasium.
